The mission of Business Ownership Initiative of Indiana (BOI) and its Central Indiana Women’s Business Center program is to help men and women start or grow their own businesses by providing knowledge, skills and access to financial resources.  Central Indiana Women’s Business Center program is widely recognized by small businesses and entrepreneurs throughout the 9 county Central Indiana Region.  The Central Indiana Women's Business Center program is funded in part through a Cooperative Agreement with the Small Business Adminstration www.sba.gov This is not an endorsement of any products, opinions or services.  All SBA funded programs are extended to the public on a nondiscriminatory basis. 

 

 There are lots of reasons to start your own business or grow an existing one:

  • Recently unemployed.

  • Returning to the job market after time out.

Creating Household Income

More than 6 out of 10 Hoosiers file IRS Form 1040 and a creating household income through “Income Patching” which refers to combined income earned from multiple sources. The “new” full-time work is now part-time work and the “new” part time work is business ownership.  The aging population also is putting unprecedented numbers of people above the age of 50 into the job market and many are turning to self-employment in response to high levels of unemployment in the traditional marketplace. When Central Indiana families provide for themselves through self-employment, family life improves, neighborhoods are rebuilt and the community prospers. 

BOI is Unique

At BOI we are in the daily business of helping people who are not in the economic mainstream by offering education, business counseling, financial literacy training, life skills coaching, and microloans (small loans from $1,000 to $4,000).  We are the only Indiana organization offering micro-loans within a unique, integrated model that directly results in client’s higher revenues and net income, as well as jobs created. There has never been a better time – or a greater need -  for BOI’s services to help clients generate income through business ownership.
