Your Stories are Being Heard in Washington
BOI was pleased and honored to be visited last week by Congressman Andre Carson and Marie Johns, Deputy Administrator of the Small Business Administration. We hosted a roundtable of BOI clients who are women business owners that shared their stories of perseverance, as well as their challenges, with our guests. Congressman Carson and Deputy Administrator Johns recognized the importance of the work BOI is doing in the community, reiterated the importance of small businesses in the economic recovery of our country, and pledged their continued support from Washington.
Would Child Care Services Make it Easier for You to Attend our Evening Classes?
BOI is considering offering FREE child care services for clients interested in taking evening classes during the month of September. Up to 10 children from infants to age 12 can be included in enrichment services, such as help with homework, music and movement, and reading. Parents would be expected to provide a snack for their children. Would this be of interest to you? If so, please write to Elaine Voci, our Director of Programs and Services, by e-mail to evoci@businessownership.org and let her know that you are interested and the number and ages of your children.
Free Seminar for Women on Financial Planning for Retirement
As part of its Financial Seminars for Women series, Somerset CPAs is offering a free seminar on “To Roth or not to Roth? And Other Retirement Options” on Tuesday, Sept. 14 from 11:15 a.m. -- 12:30 p.m. Lunch will be included for those that attend in person at 3925 River Crossing Parkway, or you may join by webinar. Free Cancer Screening for Women in Franklin on Sept. 2
Little Red Door Cancer Agency will be providing free breast health education and free clinical breast exams for women on Thursday, September 2 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the St. Thomas clinic at 600 Paul Hand Blvd. (County Road 400 North, off of US 31) in Franklin.
